Hey guys, starting a swap I thought you all might be interested in. I've been playing around with a 67 Mustang since I was in high school and the megasquirted 302 is gonna puke sooner or later. I was at the junkyard getting a turn signal lens for my 94 Ranger and spotted a rusty, beat up Taurus with an intriguing front bumper. I opened the driver's door, saw 91k on the clock and popped the hood thinking, "surely it's gone". It wasn't, so now it's mine. :woo-hoo: So I'll be bugging you guys for rwd and turbo info in the months to come. I promise to take plenty of pics!

I've considered a SHO engine with twin turbos for my 68 Cougar.
But will stick with a 351W, maybe stroked.
I like the old school look.

I have been throwin this idea to a buddy of mine alot lately. He has a 1973 VW Beetle with engine problems... Told him we should make a SHOBeetle.... 1200lbs Car with a 220hp v6 motor in it with a Borg Warner T-5 Trans and a single turbo... ultimate sleeper!

Damn, that's a sexy engine

I just broke that bastard down tonight, no glamorous pics though, just greasy nastiness. My hat's off to you fellas that work in that engine bay :salute: I'll be posting the trans, axles, and strut/brake assemblies for anyone who needs spares, keep an eye out. I tossed the subframe and rack/pinion, seemed like garden variety Taurus stuff.

engine is easy once that intake is off, it looks much more intimidating then it is IMO. was it a 6 digit or 5 digit odo? sounds like a cool project.

Hrrrmmmm, I will have to go back and see about the odometer, what you're alluding to is that perhaps it could have x91,000 miles?

Yes, the miles could be higher.

Was the car that the engine came out of a manual or automatic?

If its a manual, someone could use the transmission mount that is welded to the subframe, to upgrade to the later model subframe.

Yea, it is a manual. The subframe is in the scrap pile at the truck garage where I used to work. Speak up if you, or someone you know needs it. Otherwise, it's going to be $6.50 a lb

I'd really like to go through the engine and reseal everything. I messed with the fuel rails to see if i could turn them around last night and I think with some more tweaking they will work backwards, actually puts the quickies out right where my custom lines end in the Mustang! I just need new rubber/copper seals for the return banjo, the rubber broke down from the fuel it seems. I'll hold off on the build thread 'til I'm sure I have the capital to see it through.
