Well the car has been down a week now and this mecrury cougar I'm driving I hate. So I took the valve covers off this morning to find that the intake cam has sliped and has bent atleast six of the valves. There's about a 1/4 inch of clearance. The other cams look like they were about to slip as well.

So now I'm stuck with no Sho. And I'm wondering what to do next. I have no money. Only this 93 couger I plan on selling or trading.....I will post pics in a bit.

I have a couple motors or heads if you want to come get one. Not too far away. :)

Thanks....so just curious. Once I pull the engine from the car how hard is it to pull the head off? Or would someone purchase a broken v8.

Removing the head is pretty easy. It's a lot easier to retime it too when it is out of the car. Just be sure to have a factory manual to go by for procedure and torque specs.

When I was working at one nof the local ford dealers. They let me have a 96 sho supplement guide. Which is most everything that is exclusive to the Sho. I wish I could've grabbed a regular manual as well so I would have everything.

Its really not bad at all. I pulled the front head out with the engine in the car. Its just time consuming. Get yourself a new head and slap it on. I used brand new 2.5l duratec head bolts and cut 3/8 off the tips. Coated gasket with copper coat and bolted on. The current headgasket on my motor is now on its third use with no problems. 15,000 miles on the clock sense repair.

I may be interested in the cd....as far as pulling the head off. I'm sure I could do it. I just may want to torch the car before I'm done with it.lol...I get ****** evertime I pull the intake off because it never seems to want to line up straight. Or something gets stuck. It may be better for me to pull the engine as I need new motor mounts plus a new compressor and I could give a good glance over on everything as well.

Would it be easier with the front bumper and everything off?

I got pretty good at it. First time took quite a while. After 3 or 4 times it was down to a couple hours.

You need a tall pair of jack stands to get the car up enough. I used the cherry picker to pick up the front but this is overloading it when the engine is still in. And be sure to be on a level surface.

Disconnecting everything is what takes so long.

As clean as the inside of your motor is it looks defenitly worth fixing, and especially so you can turn a wrench !
Before I found my V8SHO, out of desperation and cost I started looking to by a spun cam car to tow it home and piece it back together.

Lol if you think that's clean. You should see how nasty my intake valves are. Pics are on my intake exhaust thread I believe. I would love to fix this one with out replacing the engine. I may try pulling it apart some more. It can't hurt at this point.

My current plan is to buy a black 96 outside orlando. Car is welded with rebuilt tranny. Just waiting on my credit to clear after my next paycheck. So the bank can give me the money.

I just hope this POS mecury couger will last till then. Rod bearings are gone to heaven. Its rattling like a broken lawnmower.

Also just curious what all needs to be or should be replaced when you drop the engine like that. I know I would put new motor mounts and put a new compressor on at that point. But what would be a good check list?
