well hopefully this is in the right forum. well on sta morning my dad and i replaced my front motor mount. what a PITA. honestly, the process is very easy but if you live where there is salt used on the roads during the winter, you may have a tough time. well i bought a slightly used motor mount and begain working at my car at 750am sat morning. followed shotimes instructions, very helpful. i think there are a total of 6 or 7 bolts holding the mount in. well with a little bit of heat all but 2 came out of the mount. this was the beginning of our troubles. the problem began with the bolts furthest to the left. after 45 mins and some heavy heating finally one of them got loose. yay! this was with a small portable torch. ok, one bolt left. so here we are tryign to get the bolt out and nothing, then we get the big torch out and hetaed till the bolt was cherry red and still nothing. the bolt kept stripping. nothing worked. we even got some sockets that are especially made to remove stripped bolts. well nothign worked. this oen bolt cost us most of the morning and into the afternoon. after soem speculation, we decide to use the cutting torch and cut the motor moutn out still leaving the bracket in. well we do that and out comes the mount but the bolt is still in there. we then cut off the head of the bolt and began to try and get the rest out and still nothing. break out the air chisel and some elbow grease and then presto it started to budge. the only thing we had to do was cut the bolt with a mini sawzall because it was hung up on the y pipe a little bit since the bolt was so long. well after that we were done just put it in w/no problems. some fresh new bolts and some nickel shield on soem of the bolts should hopefully prevent any mishaps to me on the mount again. the original mount was toast, there was about an inch of rubber that was still holding it together. with the new mount, i feel the increase in power. it feels great and it quieted my exhaust somewhat. i finally finished at 345 making me late (by 3 1/2 hours) to my gf's cookout and causing her to be mad at me. all in all a crappy day. (more to possibly explain later on another subject)

Jason, sound farmilar:

G/F; "Glad you FINALLY decided to show up!"

Jason; "I'm real sorry honey I was working on my car and I couldn't get the damn MM out I was replacing. Nothing went right and what should have took 1 hr took 4&1/2. I'm real sorry baby."

G/F; "What else is new! You and that damn car. You knew the BBQ started at noon and you stroll in when?! 4 O'clock! (mind you its only 3:45). Every time you work on that damn car it takes you forever. Why is it it HAD to be done today. I don't care if you have to work 65hrs this week, it could have been done some other time, but you pick the day we were suposed to spend together at my family's BBQ. I see how it is that damn car is more important to you than I am.

Jason; Sorry honey. And of corse my car's not more important. You know you are. wink

PS. No offense to your G/F I'm sure she's a wonderful girl, but this seems to be a general descripyion of my conversations with my G/F after working on my SHO, or any car for that matter. And what I can verify, many of my friends will concur.

when i got there she was "noticeably ******" at me and ignored me. later that night she said she was even more mad at me because i was ignoring her. on a side note i saw a guy wearing a t shirt the other day that said "If it has wheels or a skirt.....you can't afford it"

what an overall crappy day...and no offense taken :)
BTW she hates my car and doesn't ever want to talk about it

THIS IS ALL TOO TRUE...LOL. My GF hates my car because of all the time and money I put into it. I always have to put time aside every now and then to do something such as change the oil or fix something minor. After a certain amount of time I think they realize arguing is just stupid because our cars don't get fat nor do they run their mouths off at us. On certain days the best part is driving my 89, on my way to her house.

Hey Guyssss........

It's even WORSE when you are/or get married.

Look at it this way ....... Women and cars
are alot alike, they BOTH require constant
attention. *LOL*

Advice : Make SURE your girl loves your car
BEFORE you get hitched, because it only goes
downhill after that.

John B.
Wife : You and that damn SHO.

My bride takes 450 mile road trips (track events) with me in a SHO w/ 5 pt belts, Corbeau track seats, and 60 ft of roll cage tubing. Maybe I'm lucky :D

It's all about respect. Always treat them like a lady, respect them, and joyfully do things THEY want to do and in return you'll have same, and all the freedom you want on your end. It's not 50/50, it's 100% on both ends.
