Driving Home Today And The Ses Came On. I'm Assuming It's A P1740 As The Converter Has Been Unlocking After About 20 Minutes Of Driving Sometimes And It Wouldn't Lock At All Today After 20 Minutes.
Let Me Give The Whole Story.
The Trans Was Replaced At A Ford Stealership At 55k By The Previous Owner.
One Day I Had It In The Shop Power Braking It Trying To Find Out Why It Was Spark Knocking And It Started To Puke Fluid From The Front Seal? So I Hooked Up Our Flush Machine And Flushed Out The Fluid And Has Been Ok For 6 Months Since.
Then About A Month Ago I Noticed It Would Unlock Only On This Certain Hill On The Way To Work, So I Pulled The Pan And Changed The Filter.
I Then Noticed That I Actually Had Overdrive At Alot Lower Speeds Than I Had Ever Noticed Before. Like 40 Mph.
Seemed Ok For A Couple Weeks Now It's Fubarred Again.
I Assume It's Not A Solenoid As It Works Ok When It's Cold.
Will A Tuner Help This, Cause 500 Bucks Sounds Alot Better To Me Than 2 Grand. I've Been Wanting A Tuner Anyway As I've Always Hated The Way This Car Shifted. I'm Used To That Crisp Shift Of Gm Car.
I Hate To Buy A Converter And Spend All That Time Putting It In And Find Out The Valve Body Is Screwed.
Every Time We Get A Slo At Work With This Code We Send It To The Trans Shop And They Always Say They Need A Rebuild, Which I Don't Really Beleive As Almost All Of Them Shift Normally Other Than The Tcc Problem.
Also I've Been Going To Put In A Cooler, Just Haven't Had The Time As I Just Got The Car Back From The Body Shop Since Some As--hole Hit It Sitting In The Street 2 Days Before Christmas.
Would Really Like An Excuse To Get The Tuner[trying To Get My Wife To Spend Money]. But Can't Afford A Rebuild And A Tuner At This Time.
