K-Zoo 2007 is now history. We had a big turnout after the scare of maybe having to cancel the event!

Almost 120 cars made it, the vast majority were SHO's. As usual, we had a number of Non-SHO cars. Some were because their SHO was under repair. Some were because they no longer own a SHO, but like the events! We love it when people keep coming after they have to sell the SHO for whatever reason. Once a SHO friend, always a SHO friend as far as I and others at the convention are concerned.

Weather was about as cool as I can remember a SHO convention being. Track days in the 70's and 80's (morning to afternoon).

A shower in the morning of the car SHOw was just considered one damn big car wash! :)

Great roads, good food for the most part, and good people, good times.

The Mallinson clan would like to thank first of all, all the volunteers that gave their time to help run the event. SHOw Judges, tech at the Grattan event, instructors at the Grattan event, Tony Fullone as announcer at the drags! and others that just helped out when they saw a need. Thank you, thank you !

Also, thanks to everyone that came to the event. Without numbers the event can't go on, and your support is critical. These events are run pretty much as a break even event. If we get low turnout, they lose money, high turnout like this year puts money back to be used in future years. These are not and never have been a profit center.

The charity event was a success. We get some help from companies like the Tire RAck, and of course many of the SHO specialty businesses helped out like SHO Nut Performance, NESHO/Kirk Doucette, SHO Bros. Garage, NW SHO Parts and many others.

Thanks to Christopher Smith of Michigan for putting together those great drives and getting our guest speaker, how about John Clor! Informed AND funny! Great history added to our knowledge also.

Those that arrived early ate at the food hit of the week, LaCantina (Italian) in Paw Paw. I can't say enough great about this place. Worth a trip back for sure! Then we went to one of the last if not THE last double screen drive-in. Only about 12 cars made it, but they had a great time watching a first run movie...Transformers! A free bag of popcorn and a discount getting in was nice. In Southern Michigan/Northern IN? Stop in the Capri-Drive-In in Coldwater MI for a fun time.

At the SHOw we had THREE past Best of SHOw Judged cars and they fought it out for the first real Platinum Award. Paul Thomas out cleaned the other cars and got a perfect score! All three cars were driven to the event, and looked great. Scores of 198/199/200 prove that these owners take their love of SHO and SHOw serious! What a joy to have these cars and all the others at the event.

So from myself and my family, thanks for making this a great convention.

We hope to see you all, and some new faces in the great NorthWest in 2008....details soon.

A far cry from the 40-something cars registered and hotel horror stories!

As soon as registration details are up for Seattle, my registration is in. Seattle is a wonderful place and will be great for a Convention, I'm sure. I already can't wait!

Thank you to Don and his family for putting so much time, effort, and capital into these things year after year. No words can really express my gratitude for you guys. Organizing a small event takes a lot of work, I cannot imagine trying to organize something as big as the National Convention, and how time consuming it must be.

Side note, I was going to send out a cheque for the drag fees, but didn't know who's name I should put on it. I will give you a call tomorrow Don.

Ashley,

We are still waiting on our first "Wedding" at a convention, but your Honymoon will be just fine.

We have had turnouts of 60 to 300 at past conventions with 100-120 cars being the usual.

We are trying to plan Seattle to be a go whether we have a big turnout or not. No matter which, we guarantee some great sights and fun. Plan a few extra days to pick out your own trips as the convention will only be able to hit a few highlights of this wonderful region. Also, the trip there and back should be a part of the fun. Plan enough time to let you have enough sleep and off-the-road time to relax a little. Plan on seeing the sights along the way.

This is a great country, and for many of us, a trip like this may only happen once or twice in a lifetime. Make the most of it.

Jan and I still remember fondly the trip to San Francisco and are looking forward to the trip to Seattle.

Hope to see you there.

I'm greatly looking forward to taking Rt.2 from the Mackinac Bridge all the way out to Seattle, or doing the same in reverse if we convoy. Also, I'll be spending a week or 2 going back and forth to see family in the San Fran area.

Twill be a great trip.

Please tell me more about Route 2! Sounds like you have done some research. That looks really interesting. May be a LOT more relaxing than 90/94 interstates.

probably would add at least a day to the trip though.

I just love seeing parts of the country most will never see. I-80 through the Rockies is beautiful but to get off the highways and see old roads and the forgotten sights that used to be our heritage is what I love.

Rt 2 is going to bring me close to some family members in Mass City, MI and Embarrass, MN. But beyond that, I look forward to seeing the great Northern Plains, the Geographical Center of North America in Rugby, ND. I want to see the vast state of Montana. Rt 2 will take you some of the remote parts of the state. And a National Park that I've never been to is one of my prime destinations: Glacier National Park. Then there's the Rockies and the panhandle of Idaho at Bonners Ferry. Washington will have Spokane and the sparsely populated high desert in Eastern Washington.

I haven't done a ton of research on potential stops along the way, but the just drive alone should be very memorable. It seems that Rt 2 would be a fairly quick drive through North Dakota and most of Montana. I think where you'll get slowed down is through Glacier NP and the Rockies and into Idaho and parts of Washington. Except for central Montana, it appears you'll always be within 2 hours of I-94 or I-90.

Should be an absolute blast.
