What temp of a t-stat did you put in? If a 180 thats about right. And for the record the stock temp gauge is nothing to accurate.

Mine hardly ever gets above the "L", even in 100+ degree days and hard driving. As noted, the stock gauge is not very acurate.

I have a true water temp gauge to really monitor temps. Oddly enough,
up to temp" at 190 degrees on my water temp gauge, the stock gauge is still BARELY off of the peg :jpshakeh:

First I would put in a new sender. Then I would accurately measure the actual temperature that is exiting the upper radiator hose as the t-stat opens and closes.

If the gage still does not read to your liking then pull the needle off and put it where you like it. After all it is just a relative indicating device, not a calibrated instrument.

Normal operation and cycling of the engine cooling fan will cause the temperature gauge indicator to read between the mid-point and upper portion of the temperature gauge scale. The slightly higher indicator reading will return to mid-point when fan operation begins.
