Hey guys I have had my 1990 sho for about 8 years now, and something that has always kind of bothered me is my temp gauge...it never leaves the blue area. In fact the only time I have ever seen the gauge move to the middle was when I was changing the front motor mount and forgot to bleed the cooling system during refill, so I know it does work.

Here is my question.... Is my computer in closed loop due to the temp not being in the normal range? The car drives fine and has good power. Current mph on highway is 25. I am using a 190 thermostat. The fact that is drives fine and has decent gas mileage tells me no, it is not in closed loop, but I am curious if anyone else has seen this.

Thanks.

The sensor is probably bad if it doesn't leave the blue area. I would replace it. It is cheap and easy to do.

There are 2 sensors for temp one is for the computer (ECC) and one is strictly for the gauge reading. Sounds like the one for your gauge is not working. Its very close the the Thermostat and not hard to replace.

I had that problem. My sensor was bad and had a whole bunch of corrosion at the connector. So bad it broke off trying to remove it. I replaced the sensor and spliced in a new connector and all was good. BTW, I am from Wichita,ks. Is your car black or white? I just recently moved to KC.

You're going to need a 1" deep well socket and some tiny, tiny little hands for that ECT sensor in the back. The dummy gauge sensor is quite a bit easier. Make sure you use teflon tape.

thanks a lot, I just recently (about 6 months ago) got the sho plus hood painted and put on. What sho are you rolling?

Right on, thanks for the heads up.

I have a rusty 94 ATX for my DD and my 3.2 MTX 91. My 91 is my good car and it usually stays in the garage. I just had a whole lot done to it, Quaife LSD, Gen 3 subframe swap, Gen 3 ZF Rack, and lowered the front end.
