Tapping noise after clutch and wavetrac

Just put a wavetrac in a spare transmission I had, and replaced the clutch and TOB.

Now, at idle if you have the window down or your walking outside the car you can hear a slight but very noticeable tapping noise. The noise goes away if you step on the clutch, or put a slight bit of throttle on the car.

Can also hear slight whirring noise when accelerating in second. I'm starting to freak out a little thinking there is something wrong with the transmission; but I made damn well sure to put all the shims back.. so I'm confident the diff is properly preloaded and the shims are in place for the input, main, and 5th shafts.

No, went with the stock one that came the the Ford / Valeo clutch.

X2 mine makes the same noise, unless I'm pushing in the clutch..

Yeah I was concerned about that noise too when I first picked up my new SHO. I couldn't remember if my old 93 did it as it was 10 years ago lol..

Does the noise go away once it breaks in?

I replaced it with the exact same type of clutch that came out. On the other transmission, whoever did the clutch either didnt press the repair sleeve on all the way, or it slid off a bit, because the sleeve stuck out 1/2".

I wonder if that was what had prevented it from rattling before?

Not in my case, Courtney Truck the SHO shop here in MN put it in over 10,000 miles ago so I think we will just have to live with noise..
