Does anybody know of soneone that makes a beefier transmision and torque converter. Something is on its way out in my car (just shudders every so often at idle, and clunks into 4), so I was wondering about upgrading if I need to replace.

Not to my knowledge, though there are whispers that such components are being built. In the meantime, have you checked the transmission/PTU/RDU fluids? A change might be just what is needed.

If you are a DIY'r, and confident enough to get the car up on jackstands on all 4 corners, you can change the PTU (attached to the transmission) and RDU (found in between the rear wheels) fluids. Better yet, if you can get a local BG shop to service all the units, that can restore the drivetrain to like-new performance.

Look for one that offers driveline services.

The shuddering at idle ... do you feel it through the floorboard or through the steering wheel or ...?

Sitting in my seat, it jiggles me. I can feel it about anywhere in the car....

The reason for my asking was that if the shuddering is through the floorboard, then the driveshaft and its' bearings are possibilities. You can have that checked by your tech. I have not heard of driveshaft issues on the SHO, but not uncommon on other Ford model lines.

It's not a constant shuddering, only happens about every 10-15 seconds. I honestly have no clue, but don't feel like taking it in for the dealer to look at since I'm out of warranty and don't have $2k-$3k just lying around.

This car has been nothing but problems ever since I got it last year in November. As soon as I got it, I noticed the brakes made a humming noise if you came down on them to hard. So I looked it up and noticed there was a TSB issued, so I decided to go ahead and spend $600 (parts only, did the work myself) for all new rotors, pads, and caliper mounting brackets. Well guess what, 1,500 miles later, it's back too! To tell you the truth, I'm kinda fed up with it!!

You sure it isn't a miss?
How many miles are on the plugs?
Did you check for the wire chaffing as discussed here on the forum?

Without more info, I would say you have the infamous wire chaffing, that is fixed with some electrical tape and protector sleeve.

Curious about the brake work, did you use Motorcraft, or another brand? Pads and rotors?

I used Centric Stoptech rotors part number 127.61094L for the left one and # 127.61094R for the right one. As far as pads, I used Wagner ThermoQuiet. And then for caliper mounting brackets, I used OEM.

Can you fill me in on the wire chaffing??
