Tail light partial tint.

So a couple weeks ago I applied tint that only covers the clear parts of the tail lights. 20%. Didnt seem wild at first. I also applied them dry and poorly. The next day I drove around with the wife and kid. Got out and locked it and realized the turn signals were very dark. So I ripped them off and ordered the 35% kit. Installed it wet with more experience.
Some change but not much. When I started I was comparing to the non tint spots and it looked like nothing. Once I got all 8 pieces on it looked darker.
It's definitely not as dark/aggressive in person.
I do wish i could make the turn signals brighter to use the 20% because it was sharp.

So they aren't bulbs. They are an array of LEDs built into the housing. I looked into it because I thought about changing the not bulb to red.

I love the whole thing tinted but I've read about rearends and insurance claims.

I read if you have tint on your brake lights and get rear ended you are at fault.
So I tinted the not brake light parts.
Brake light brightness unchanged.

I thought about that, so I added another 3rd brake light.

That's a statement. Disabled the inner. Replaced with upper bar. What is that upper bar and does it blend in?

After I took those pictures, I noticed the inner 3rd brake light and then disconnected it. I have the upper 3rd brake light sitting right behind my roof spoiler, so it's not that noticeable.

My tail lights were originally done like this, not as dark. Then I filled in the turn signals and backup lights. I preferred them all the same'ish

I tinted mine with the help of a friend (he runs a wrap/tint business) and he supplied the tint and I thought at first it was WAY too dark. My lights still come through fine even on the headlights, although I did upgrade to a set of OSRAMs which I would recommend anyways. There might be a particular product that works better for tinting lights, maybe call a wrap shop and see if you can get some advice on what tint works best.

You can find tail light tint and headlight tint on eBay, I purchased mine from eBay seller motorskinz. Precut and come in 20% (default) or 35% tint. I used 20% on my turn signal and back ups. Very pleased

Where are you fishing the third brake light thru, am I assuming you are tapping into the same wiring as the third brake light, and if so does it cause any canbus related issues?

@kryptto Actually, I ran the wires down the side of the back glass into the trunk and tapped into the tail light.
