tail light chrome trim flaking off? 2012 SHO

hey guys new to the forum just picked up a 2012 SHO a few weeks ago and today i washed it and while drying found some of the chrome trim around the taillight flaking off. has anyone else had this problem.

Pretty common on the 2010's.

Alot of people. See if the local dealer will replace it on Ford's dime. The new model year SHO may have different trim around the tails. The regular Taurus I think may have body matching or black trim that you can use also. The whole batch of that chromed plastic trim seems to be very prone to doing this. There are some that got it replaced and had the same problem again later.

check the part numbers... mine were replaced on the 2nd try and were given a different part number no issues so far

This is happening to my 2010 as well. Before purchasing it I told the Ford dealership that it was happening. They said that Ford was going to be coming out with a Recall for this. I am pretty sure they lied to me. They refuse to do anything about it and Ford still hasn't issued anything. Not sure what the next step would be either.

My 2010's chrome peeled, Ford replaced them under warranty. Now my new "batch of chrome trimmed lights" are peeling too. Now I see why they did away with the BS chrome trim on the 2013 models. It's not a matter of if they peel, but when they will peel. And I thought recalls only dealt with safety issues?? Ford told a lie right to your face bro. Since when is chrome peeling a safety concern?? I'd find a new dealer Echo.

Just got mine (2011) done today. Ford Covered it. It was pouring rain at the dealership so I really didn't look at the tail lights too close. Got home and wiped the rain off the left one and it started peeling.
