Tach reading 450RPM higher than it should?

My 91 is mis-reading by 450 RPM on the tach. Is there any way I can fix this? The cause of this was when the throttle stuck 2 times, and when I hit the key to shut the engine off, the tach went ALL the way around to the peg. Can I pull the dash apart and physically move or bend the needle back? Any help appreciated. shrug
