For those that have have my ford touch and sync 3. What's your opinion? I have had two cars with my touch and now sync 3. I think 3 is amazing! Anyone else have opinions or heard of any problems?

I have Sync 1 in my MKS and a few weeks ago I had a loaner C-Max with Sync 3. Worlds better than Sync 1 and I loved it.

My sync with Lincoln Touch (aka. SYNC 2) was greatly improved with the most recent update. It added Siri eyes free and greatly improved it's verbal recognition. It now actually knows my wife's name. LOL

I was not happy with it before the update, but it's much better now. Even includes additional prompts to help.

I'm sure that sync 3 is better than any version of sync 2, but did you try the sync 2 that was just released this month? It is a major improvement. I only mention it for those of us stuck with sync 2. DO THE UPGRADE!

No I didn't but I'm sure it was a great improvement! I did like that I could change the wallpaper.

You can't change SYNC versions. I should have said update, not upgrade. If you have SYNC My Ford (or Lincoln) Touch, that is SYNC 2.

Anyone that has not updated their My Ford/Lincoln Touch recently will likely be pleasantly surprised with the improvements. To update, you need to create an owner account on Ford/Lincoln and download the update to a computer, transfer to a USB drive, and then plug it in the car. Step by step instructions are on the Site. www.syncmyride.com is another way to get to the same place.

Only downside was the 30 minutes my car had to sit and idle to do the update.

Don't go into these upgrades with a weak battery that's for sure!

I would guess the charging and cooling systems are the most important since it has to idle for what seems an eternity. Next time I will do it at night or in the winter.

It's not a process you can stop once started. Some of the blank screen pauses were long enough that I feared I bricked it a couple of times.

I have heard that there are people who are putting Sync3 into Sync2 vehicles, but its pretty expensive. never seen one, so don't know if it works perfectly or not.

I like Sync3 much better - much faster, smoother response and (eventually) support for Car Play and Android Auto. However, you do give up a few things, most notably to me is the vehicle history report has gone away.

Can't say that would be worth it to me, but there's one way to upgrade. At that price though, I'll just wait and figure I'll have a newer version of sync when I get my next vehicle.
