Sync 3 Update Available

Just an FYI to anyone with 2016+ and sync 3 software. Sync 3 version 3.0 is available for our cars (may have been for a while but I just noticed now) currently updating mine right now.

Supposedly responsiveness is improved along with Waze support and minor icon changes/bug fixes.

I did the update to v3.0, 2 weeks ago. Don't get nervous when you see that the Android Auto icon missing (if you're using Android). It will come back as soon as you plug your phone in via USB cable. And will disappear again when you disconnect the USB cable.
I had to do a Master Reset because Android Auto was only half loading, but all is good after the reset. Also there is a new Sirius Icon in the settings. It gives you the same options as when you are in Sirius, and then pick Audio then options.

Yep Waze with iPhone. Though I just tested it and it seems now Waze has to update their app to have it work with Applink. According to this article it's happening this month https://techcrunch.com/2018/02/26/ford-adds-waze-to-its-sync-3-applink-for-ios-users/

Map updates have to be special ordered by VIN, and are locked to that vehicle. If you have a MFT vehicle that was upgraded to SYNC3 with nav from a salvaged or "aftermarket" display/APIM, you more than likely will not be able to install nav updates unless someone figures out how to unlock the files.

how would one go about getting the newer sync in a 2010.

Well. What do you mean by "newer" sync. 2010 is probably next gen nav. So you have a navigation radio with a separate sync gen module. This one has buttons near the screen. I forget if it's touchscreen.


Then there is sync gen 2 which is the 1st touch screen system. It has 4 quadrants on the home page

The. The latest and greatest is sync gen 3. It has a bar at the bottom of the page for different functions.

Each sync system has updats available. You can update the Customer side from a syncmyride.com account.


As for going from gen 1 or 2 to gen 3. That's all aftermarket and it may be covered in a different thread.

I believe mine has 3 sections. I know if I hit the home button I get full left side maps then one corner will be like my audio then the other I think shows climate
