Coolness. Wasn't aware they were able to link up with the 2012's. Good news for you!! If you go on Crurchfield it will show you the only 3 units that will work on the Taurus. JVC, Kenwood and Pioneer.
I guess what's throwing me off is how do we know those 3 are the only ones that work? Idatalink is what makes them compatible, right? If you go to that site and enter your car it shows a lot of compatible units. And Crutchfield shows no compatible for my 2012 but 3 compatible for 2013. The JVC KW-M750BT is a 6.8" unit, Kenwood DMX706S is 6.95", and Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX is 6.8". Our factory stereo is a 8".
...2-3 hours later worth of research...
So if we buy a "compatible" stereo then we also need these 3 items:
iDatalink KIT-MFT1
iDatalink Maestro RR Interface Module
Metra 40-EU10 Antenna Adapter
The KIT-MFT1 is basically adapting the stereo (universally) to fit our 8" hole and the Maestro RR is doing the interfacing. So we just need a Maestro RR compatible stereo that fits the hole, right?
Honestly, I think Crutchfield hasn't been updated recently. If you go to the manufacturer's site and plug in your car it's showing a lot more options. Although I think common sense needs to be used because it's showing that 10" screens will work and that's not the case without modifications..

I've spent too much time searching tonight and still can't find a compatibility chart for the KIT-MFT1. We may need to contact idatalink for that info.
On the bright side I'm pretty sure this will work with my car. One of the many videos I watched was one of a F150 install and they retained the factory hard buttons for AC, radio, etc.
