So my buddy let me have a superchip that he got with a 2nd gen mtx. He didnt use it when he got the car so he gave it to me. Neither of us know what it was exactly tuned for. So I decided to put it in my car last night to see if it would at least raise my redline or my idle. So I put it in and started my car up, the idle seemed fine and everything seemed normal so I went for a cruise. I didnt bring it pass 5 grand yet.
I then pulled over to see if it would go past 7,300. I came to a stop and pushed in the clutch and reved it up slowly to about 6 and then a little harder. It went past 7.000 right up to about 8 and then i heard a couple like cracks/pops kinda like it back fired but not to loud. I let off and it idled a little rough after that. I tried to pull it out of gear to put it in nuetral but it was really hard to pull out of gear. I turned off the car checked everything under hood and under the car everthing looked ok. I got back in pulled out the chip and started it. it still ran rough and was really hard to get in gear.
I forced it in gear and took off slowly it was hard to shift all through the gears. I drove it home slowly and didnt noticed much problem with the engine, but then again i didnt drive hard. when I got home it was still running rough and vibrating more than normal. I just replaced the rod bearings about 300-400 miles ago.
I dont understand why the clutch or tranny would have anything to do with it if i didnt let out of the clutch when i reved it. PLEASE HELP, ANYTHING WOULD BE APPRECIATED ASAP.
