The sunshade in my '91 looked horrible and I either wanted to refelt it or get a gen2 sunshade(since they don't have slats through them). My brother found me a gen2 sunshade at a junkyard and we put it in the '91. The gen2 sunshades will fit in the gen1 correct? The problem I'm having is that when you go to open it, it will open about 3/4 of the way and it won't really go any further. If you have the sunshade closed and just open the moonroof it will move along with it but at that same spot it makes a noise and seems like it really has to push the sunshade for it to go past. Any suggestions? I really don't want to take everything apart again if I don't have to.

Thanks

my 93 (gen II) has slats, i recovered it with matterial, but the glue i used sucked...i am planning to paint it the interior color. search around you can find the thread about it and the member had a pic...really nice job.

gen 3 (96 + taurus) has a different (dimensions, shape) shade i would imagine, but am not sure...

I thought the gen2 sunshades didn't have slats. Maybe the 94 or 95 didn't? We had instructions off of shotimes I believe, and we followed them. I think we did everything that it said.

I hate to be the one to say this but ...
Are you sure it is properly installed?
Sounds like an item may be off alignment.

Then I guess it must be the '94 and '95 that don't have the slats. Good thing the sunshade I got was out of a '95. Anyone have any clues as to why it stops?

my 92 had slats, and the 94 parts car didnt. they can be a real pita to get aligned properly, make sure its not catching on anything. mine did a simalar problem, and I cant remember exactly what was causing it. just look it over real good and make sure its installed in the correct place and not catching on anything.

Sounds like you just don't have it aligned properly. Is the metal ring that screws into the front of the moonroof installed properly?

I believe we installed everything properly. I do think it's catching on something. I'll have a look at the metal ring thing and look around during the day. :corn:

Thanks

94 is when the solid sunshade started. The solid shade should fit in the Gen 1.

thats correct....i got one out of a 95 and had it redone then i put it in my 89...fit perfect...just had to mess with it a little but it works no problem,it s a huge improvment over the factory 89 one....it makes the interior seem a little quieter and no rattles...i can take a couple of pics if you like....
