I'm wondering where I can find a schematic or parts breakdown of the sunroof assembly. A plastic part broke on mine this week and I can't figure out how it originally fit. It seems to have something to do with the automatic movement of the shade in the interior. The shade will retract when I open the sunroof, but is not pulled back forward when closed. I now have to reach back into the headliner to get to the shade.

I'm probably going to have this repaired at a dealer (ESP Warranty), but want to understand the problem fully before I let some random donkey at the Ford dealer play with it! oh_my I'm a little nervous about the removal of my headliner, the don't always go back the way they came apart.

I had the same black trim piece break on my old 98. I did the same thing that yours sounds to be doing. Then I totaled the car jpshakeh . So it wasn't all that big of a deal after that. My new ( at one time ) 98 is still in working order. Good luck getting the dealer to cover that under extended warranty. Hope they sublet that stuff out to someone who works on sunroofs for a living.

Mine broke 2 years ago, and with no warranty, I left it alone. It doesn't affect the operation of the roof, and no-one can tell the difference. It attaches at the front bottom edge of the sunroof, and goes the length of both sides to wrap around the rear. I'm not sure if it is glued or pressed on, but the only piece I have remaining is the front. It can be wiggled somewhat. These cars rock, except for crap like this (and the cams). jpshakeh

Mine did the same and dealer provided the schematic which I have if you post an email address I will be happy to send it to you. What the dealer wound up doing was simply removing the broken plastic frame altogether as its only function is to stop the shade from going back too far and worst you will experience is having to reach into the space to manually grab it to pull it closed.
