Sunroof Problem: Buzzing noise comes from dash???

When attempting to operate the sunroof, I have to push the button twice to get the glass to move in any direction. When I close the sunroof from the full open position, it does not stop at the closed position on its own. Instead goes right to the vent position unless I release the button. Then it stops. The same goes for when I attempt to close it from the vent position. It does not stop by itself like it should.

A buzzing noise from the passenger side of the dash accompanies the sunroof problem. It sounds like it’s coming from behind the glove box whenever I operate the sunroof. Is there a relay back there that needs to be replaced?

I replaced the sunroof switch with a new Ford switch from Cincinnati SHO. It did not fix the problem.

What do you suggest?

Thats the sunroof relay alright. You can look under the dash and feel it vibrate. Friend had same problem with his...just swap it for a working one and you should be set.

Know where I could find one? Do I have to get one from Ford or can I get one from a SLO at the yard?

My buddy got it here in the parting out section...look for someone parting out a SHO with a sunroof or try your luck at the pick and pull. As for using a SLO one...I don't have that answer.

I found the relay behind the glove box. I put one of my digits in it and I could feel it clicking. Thanks for the tip. I pulled it and was surprised to see it has "BMW" and its emblem embossed on it. "1.362 386 Made in W-Germany". I don't want to know what BMW want$ for this relay.
