Sun roof not closing fully.

So the other day I opened the sun roof, which I rarely do, and then couldn't get it to close completely. I was opening it up fully and when I went to close it you could hear how it wouldn't fully seat and tons of wind noise was coming through. When I got home I watched it open and close and noticed how the bar that pops up, at the front of the sun roof, was slightely crooked and raised higher on the driver side. I grabbed a pen and pushed down on the drivers side corner, and held it down while it closed and it was able to fully seat. As my car is out of warranty and I don't feel like forking over the $100 deductible for my extended warranty was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

I had a similar issue with my 2008 G8 GT. They had to replace the tracks and closing mechanism. Took them about 4 hrs and headliner had to come out/down.

I too was able to get it completely closed, but every time it opened it went slightly cockeyed when closing. Will it do the pop up mode? As I recall (4 years ago) mine wouldn't do the pop up mode. I know I got one of like 3 kits in the country, as G8 was just out. Once fixed it has been fine. The local Mason City IA dealer actually did the work and it is definitely quieter than it ever was when purchased.

If it is the issue with just the wind deflector bar, that can be removed and from others I have taken out, really makes no difference in wind noise, just keeps less wind from going into the back seat area.

There is definitely adjustments that can be made if the mechanism hasn't been damaged.

I haven't tried the pop-up mode. But good idea of removing the wind deflector bar as that seems to be what is causing the problem.
