Let me preface this by saying that I am extremely cheap right now.

Who makes the Summit Performance Turbo mufflers?

I was going to order some Flowmasters or Borlas, but I have absolutely no reason to get stainless steel, because the car doesn't go out if it is the least bit wet outside. So, It's not an issue for me to get something overconstructed, I just want the sound.

I have other probably more important stuff to buy, like coils and a wheel bearing/knuckle, and I figure if I can get away with muffs for under $60 bucks, I'll get some. If not, I'm not dropping $300+ total for exhaust/install. If that's the case I'll cut 'em off like Mandy did... I'd just like to save some face in my condo complex...

Thanx!

well you can get a cheap turbo muffler from a Muffler shop for about $20-$24. WARNING: They WILL be "buzzy"

Thanks for the info- sounds like you either spend the money, or the mini-V8 makes them rasp...

I think I'm gonna straight pipe it...

The Summit turbo muffs do NOT sound "buzzy" or "raspy" on these cars.

However, it doesn't matter whether the car gets wet or sees road salt... they WILL rust out in short time. Just starting the car up in the morning causes condensation to collect inside, and that condensation is actually acidic. If it's not stainless, it WILL rust out.

I don't think I want to hack up a perfectly functional stainless exhaust system to replace the muffs with something that will rust out.

Get 'em welded if you haven't already. If you don't, you will kick yourself later on for even thinking about mods when you have a worthless SHO with a fubared engine.

She is welded, (per word) and will be verified soon. If not, they will be. If I put 1,000 miles on it each year I'd be surprised.

The Dynomax system on NeedAPartsCar's red SHO that was mine previously are a year old now. See what they look like in his "photoshoot" post... I'm really not worried about rusting. I think I'll straightpipe it now, see how that is, if not so good, I'll get something to pin in there later.

Does anyone know who makes those Summits?

I know they're made in Canada. :nut: I can pull the part number off one of them next time I'm in the garage and we can Google it and see if it matches any popular manufacturers.

I was curious, because I've had some say that Dynomax make them, and some say that Flowmaster make them. I'd imagine that it depends on the model and make as to who makes them- I was just curious though... If you get a chance, it'd be cool to find out! Thanx...
