ok I tried not to do this but i read through probably 800 tire threads and my head hurts. Are there any summer tires that stick very well but dont wear out really fast? Of do all of them wear becasue of the soft compound. I do run the occational autocross and road course, but my street driving has now calmed down so they will not see much stress on the street. Under normal everyday driving what tires wont wear out fast but will hold up in autocross without melting and dissapearing faster then boiling water. From what iv read the bf good rich tires are good but kind of melt away. I was looking at the toyo proxes t1R and t1? i think it is. Has anyone has any experenc with these tires?

Kumho Excsta 712's wear OK....

my old Fuzion ZRi's wore pretty quickly but I had the PSI high and abused the **** out of them relentlessly... good tire though, especially for the price.

try a set and see what you think of the ZRi's....

if its just a summer tire it only has to last through the summer right lol?

usually good gripping, and long lasting are not in the same sentence when talking tires.... and another thing to factor in... if you drive easy 95% of the time a performance tire will last longer, but once you see how much better they are you will want to exploit every corner. Even if you beat on "longer lasting" tires like all seasons or something of that nature, you can wear them out quickly... the biggest factor I see in tire wear is vehicle maintenance and driving characteristics...

Once I started buying these "summer" tires that are pretty much the best grip you can buy without going to R-compounds I will never buy a less performance set of tires again. Sure they cost more, they wear out faster, but they are so much better, and safer when you think about it.

I also think the Fuzion's are a **** of a reliable tire, and I've heard other people say this as well about them. I feel safe driving at 140mph with them, never had a blowout. **** I even drove once about 20 miles at 70mph or so with 8 psi in one of my tires! take that

yeah i was thinking of the toyo proxes 4's now because they are all season and are still rated AA for traction and have a 300 treadwear rating. Pobably better for what im doing. As far as safty I agree thats why I always spend a lot of money on tires no matter what car im driving. Has anyone used the toyo proxes 4's they seem to be the perfect tire for me.

well don't nessecarily look at that AA traction rating...

I've read that the traction rating is kind of an average over many different tests and road conditions. You can have an AA traction rating because maybe the tire handles superbly in rain situations... now I like a good rain tire the fuzions were pretty good at that... but lets face it.. if its raining outside heavily you probably aren't going to be looking for the maximum grip of your tires.

That same AA rated tire might not be as good as other tires in dry situations. You might get a tire rated A that works wonders on dry surfaces but is mediocre on rain so its rating is going to suffer...

basic point is this, if your looking for a tire that handles good on dry surfaces and does decent driving in the rain, you need to look around and see what people think is good. I find this better then any type of regulated ratings. You say you want to autocross and such so you need a good tire, it just makes it that much more fun.

I've found out myself and heard from numerous people about some good gripping tires...

I'll arrange them in lowest to highest pricing:

Fuzion ZRi
BF Goodrich KDW2
Goodyear Eagle F1 Gsd3

I've found these tires to be good, and work fairly well in the rain when you need them to. They aren't as good as R compound tires, but will last longer and work well enough on wet roads.

the autocross, road course, drag racing stuff i do is what il lcall minimal maybe once or twice a month for 3 or 4 months. Its more ill say maybe 5 times a year ill go with this car. So i really jsut need a good tire that will handle that but last plently long on the road because I dont have the money to be buyign tires al lthe itme, im hopign the tires i buy will last me through college. ( I have 4 years left) I dont do to much driving maybe about 10k miles a year in which most will be easy miles becasue I wrecked my car and im no longer pushing it on the street so the tires should last longer.

I have Fuzion ZRi on my 98 GT as well as my SHO. The ones on the GT have seen a handful of lengthy burn outs and with around 20k on them, i still have around 65 to 75% tread on them. They are very quiet on the highway and boy are they sticky on the cloverleafs... A great tire for the price.

my last Fuzions lasted about 15k miles! thats how hard I pushed my old Taurus in corners...........

if I get 15-20k miles on a set of tires Im happy...

I don't see good performance tires lasting for 40,000 miles in 4 years if you actually use them...

but only racing 5 times a year or so I don't think you need such a good tire, you defintely need something with longevity in mind and not performance...

naa im ok with spending the money I want a good tire thats what my car rides on. I have racing in my blood lets just say that the last turn before i wrecked my car the whole turn had the curved rubber around it and no that was not from me skidding, but from taking a nice hard turn. I think im going to go with the toyo proxes 4 but that fuzion tire seems lie kits worth takign a look at.
