SHODWN:
lemme ask a dumb question.

Why the larger counter bore for the washer? ITS AL I would not worry about the bolt.
The counter bored hole lets you use the reinforcing plate that comes with the recall kit. It appears to me that the plat is there to help distribute the load on across the whole bottom of the bushing, not just right were the head of the bolt is. Granted the AL is tough but it is soft and when you TQ down the bolt, you gall the 10.9 grade SF bolt into the bushing. Could lead to the TQ #'s not being accurate, or possible loosening of the bolt down the line. Whats to say that while driving the forces that the bolt endures dosen't get transfered to the head of the bolt and further gall the AL, making a depression, possibly letting the SFB to drop a little away from the body of the car?

Plus Mark N. mentioned adding the counterbored hole, to make for an eaiser install, I thought it was a great idea and added it on the very next run. Josh I believe does the same with his bushings.

netviper: I called 2 Dealerships and they said it was done, but I checked for those Plugs and I cant find any. How far back do you have to pull the carpet? There isnt any time limit on recalls are there? The last guy at the dealership that I talked to made it sound like my car wasnt involved in the Recall and that it was "over." That's how he made it sound at least.

And I still would like to purchase your Al. SFB's too.
If you lift up the carpet in passenger footwell it is easier to find. Pull off the trim piece that is held on by one screw, then loosen first screw on the door sill piece. Pull back carpet from front right most corner, then lift up black plastic sound deadining pad that leads up to the firewall.

Should look like this when you find it.

Finally someone posts a picture. I'm going to check again right now.

Thanks netviper

EDIT: Nope, nothing. I'm calling them tomorrow and making an appointment to get it done.

Thanks again.

Grifter, I just wanted to add my take on it...I ordered Netviper's Al Bushings and they suck...Ha just kidding!

After driving 160k miles and more recently with that same clunk, brother, I could not believe the difference the new aluminum bushings made! Also, I do not notice more sound or vibrations...but that's my car, it is possible...but gee whiz, what a great ride it is...I am telling you, it's an amazing feel!

Next week I will install the sub-frame connectors and solid front motor mount...perhaps then I will get some more noise and vibration?!

Good luck!

I cant find this Plug, there's no way I'm missing it. I'm going to the dealership today and telling them to either show me this Plug or do the Recall!!

Wow, what a day already. Went to the Ford dealership and asked about the Recall, they called up Ford and they said it was done. I actually took the Ford guy to my car, screwdriver in hand, and showed him. He took a look himself and saw that there was no sign of the recall being done.

I'm now trying to get in touch with the dealership, Pleasentvillve(how irnoic)Ford that did this Phantom Recall.

Could this recall have been completed by just changing the bolts and not drilling a hole in the Floor? The dealership guys were shooting at me with all these different scenarios of how it could have been done.

Thanks again. All your help is greatly appreciated. I felt like I was speaking for all the SHO guys when I was arguing with them!

They may have just put in the new bolts and shorted the owner and Ford by not putting in the nuts too. More proof of a stealership at work sounds like to me.

I want to **** somebody!! I think that's what they did, it sounds like it at least.

I hate dealerships so much.

So what do you guys suggest I do, if in fact the bolts were installed.

Well, if the dealer is gonna ba an A-hole about this, then at a minimum, I would drill the 3" hold in the floorboard (passenger side) and see if the hex-head recall nut was installed. If it is not a hex-head, then the recall nut was not installed.

(The passenger hole is easier to cut than the drivers side is).

If the recall nuts are not there, then the "recall dealer" is a lazy lying sack of ford. madflame

It is exactly because of crap like this that I never let the dealers touch my cars. rant

I could do that. But it just the fact that it doesnt seem like the Recall was done, no evidence is there, and I still have to do something to get it done?! It's a Safety Recall, it should have been correctly and right the first Time, end of story.

Sadly at many Ford dealers, "Quality is Job None". headbang

By the way, if it turns out that your recall was really not done correctly, I am sure that the NHTSA would be very interested in any pattern of deception on the part of Ford dealers in executing a critical safety recall. ****

There's only 2 ways this can go down.

It was either not done, which is what the evidence is showing.

Or it wasnt done correctly.

Which is why I ask; is the hole in the floor mandatory for the recall?!?

I don't see how they can change the nut on top without the hole in the floor. At least it makes sense that if ford's recall kit instructions direct thier techs to cut a hole, then that is the easiest and proper way to get into that area.

Well, I could go to Pleasentville Ford and show them, but I dont think it's worth. I may just get the Recall kit from you, netviper. By the way, what's up with those AL. SFB's?

Thanks.
