Hey, Im about to replace the subframe bushings with the aluminum upgrade. But I'm trying to figure out if I need the recall kit. How do you find out if it has already been done? Or do I even need it, my car was built 03/95 toward the end of the secound Gens so does it still apply?Everything I read about the kit seems like it usually effects mostly older northern rusty cars. My car has no rust its a south Florida car its whole life. So do I still need the kit. any help would be great thanks

I would say it doesn't need it if its not a rust belt car. My '90 doesn't have a spot of rust on it and I put ASFBs on it and it didn't need the recall kits. I'm pretty sure the recall affects only rust belt cars but I could be wrong.

I would consider it at this age, but if the bolts come out pretty easily and are in good shape you should be able to reuse them.

You can tell if the recall has been done by pulling up the carpet in the footwells up front and look for plugs where holes were made to access the subframe hardware from the top of the SF.

Do the recall. It's a safety issue, even if its not rusted you want the stronger plates in there, the kit is like 20 bucks it is well worth it. You may not even have to buy it, I believe Ford has to still perform it if it has not been done since it was a safety recall; so just take it in and get it done.

Ford will only do the recall if your car is listed in OASIS as needing it. Otherwise, you'll have to do it at your own expense. The recall only applied to vehicles registered in the Rust Belt.

Use their online recall look-up site (posted as a sticky around here) to see if anything is open on your car.

This is not necessarily true.

If your vehicle was registered/titled in one of the recall states (or you can prove it was driven there for an extended period of time) and the recall has not been performed, you can get the recall done. A dealer service department will have to verify that the recall has not been performed, and then contact Ford for repair authorization.

If the recall has been claimed by a dealer but not performed, you will again have to get a dealer service department to verify that the recall has not been performed, and then go after the Ford Dealership that claimed the recall. This is what I had to do, and I was successful in getting reimbursed by the Dealership that "claimed" to have accomplished the recall. They even reimbursed me for the recall kit.
