stupid gasket Q

Im assembling my intake and need to know which way the gaskets go. Im talking about the surge tank, horns, to butterflies gaskets as they appear to have different sides. I bought these gaskets from rcm and one side has this white stuff in it and is smoother than the other side. Are these directional or doesn't it matter?

One tank will go one way, the other will go the other way. They are identical, not specific left / right (or inside / outside) facing.

Loseth not sleep over this.
