My left rear cable's stickin....unfortunatly, I'm in the habit of using it every time I park the friggin car, so I gotta get out and use a screwdriver to pop it back open.

I found out the hard way when I pulled up to a light and smelled burning brakes...and realized that there was no one else around me. I used a screwdriver to pry it open and sprayed half a can of WD-40 down the sleeve, but that puppy's gone. Auto parts store says they can get it wednesday....but by 3pm weds, I should crossing the kansas state line heading west at a reasonably high rate of speed.

can I just unhook the damn thing for now and rely on my right rear brake for parking duties? There's no way I'm gonna be able to untrain myself from using it in a week. and I'm tired of poking a screwdriver through the spokes of my slicers to pop it loose.

Any other recommendations?

Yes, but you will need to adj the cable to take up the new found slack. Remove the end of the cable from the caliper and let it retract untill the nub cant retract into the cable anymore. I have been running around like that for a couple of years due to something being wrong with the drivers side caliper and the ebrake part of it. I just replaced the passenger side cable this weekend and it took about 15 min. There is plenty of holding power with just one ebrake working, just remember to leave it in gear.
