my brake pedal is soooooo soft, i used to have to pump it once and it woudl be hard, and now it doesnt get solid until like more than 1/2 of the way to the floor. we fixed my rear brakes, and it stopped for a while, and now its back, so we took the rears off, and everything is ok. so im guessin that its the fronts. ive recently been lookin for a brake upgrade, and it looks like the 96 brake upgrade is they way to go.what are the pros and cons of the 96 upgrade, and will it give me the solid pedal feel that i want?

It sounds like you may just need to bleed the brakes. I'd try that before doing anything else.

The main things that contribute to a soft pedal are old fluid, air in the lines, and the rubber flex hoses. Bleeding the brakes to get some fresh fluid in there will take care of the first two and probably get things back to where you expect them.

oh, we beld the crap outta them, it helps for like a day, to a small extent, and its back to sucking really bad, we went around the car about 4 times. didnt help much, theres something other than air or old fluid in the line, i might wanna look into braided steel lines its seems too, good idea?

If it's okay for a few days and then gets soft again, something is either letting air into the lines or contaminating the fluid. I'd try to find what's causing that before spending a lot on other parts.

If you're bleeding them properly and the problem persists (and you're not losing fluid due to a leak), then you probably have a master cylinder problem.

i was told about the master cylinder problem, cause i used to have to pump my brakes to the floor, let off, and hit them again and it would be solid, i was told it could be the master cylinder failing, now i dont have to pump them anymore, they just go down really far b4 they create much stoppage, and it sux...were pullin everything off today to do a little bit of brake/engine work today, so ill check all the brakes and lines for leaks, which im pretty sure there isnt(my fluid level stays exactly the same between bleedings). but if theres no leaks, its most likely the master cylinder?

idk if this is what is supposed to happen, but just about the same amount of fluid comes outta the rear brakes as front when they are bled, so i dont think that they are restricted. my problem got a little better outta nowhere today, it stops a tad better....
