Hope someone can help b4 i have to go spend a bunch of money.

Every once and a while, the headlights and guage lights flicker (dim, not completely out) and the battery light will occasionally flash on for a second. We got pulled over (clocked at 78, cruise at 71 - guages known to be accurate - may be reading innacurate now due to charging problem....?) Copped said slow down, we went to leave and car didn't start. Relay clicked, then nothing. Jumped the car and hit the previous town to wait for the Ford dealership to open. Car now starts fine. Even after 3 hours...

New alternator 4 months ago, just replaced 4 coil packs (one still bad on front four), top of battery seems to have some acid on it (is wet)....Also, when the car is idling, theee lights wil flicker the same time the cylinder with the bad coil is missing...

Is it possible the batt is bad (before we check out the alt at Ford)?

Sounds more like you have a loose wire either at the alt, battery, or mega fuse box. Check them all over for tightness and make sure they are rust/corrosion-free.

You can also use a digital multimeter to test across the 175 amp monster fuse, or from the B+ terminal on the alt. to the positive terminal of the battery. If you see more than .25 vdc you've got a problem.

My car did the same thing. Turned out to be my connections to the battery and the ground directly off the battery.
