i have an 89 that i bought stuck in gear. some people ive talked to suggest that its the tranny, some have told me that it could be a linkage but the clutch will not engage at all. the car runs beutiful with the clutch pedal pressed down but the car stays in gear, will not roll, and if u let it out the car stalls. I had one person tell me the throw out bearing could have went threw the clutch fingers. I have no knowledge what so ever on this subject and i need help. PLEASE help thanks

A friend's SHO was stuck in reverse, it turned out to be a broken shift cable. I would lift up the front wheels and watch as someone inside tries to shift gears to see if the transmission linkages are moving. If they move freely the problem is most likely inside the tranny: clutch, release bearing, fingers, etc.

if the car will not roll, I think the tranny is toast. Otherwise, I'd start on the shifter cable. The car could be stuck in 3rd gear or above, preventing you from starting off with the clutch. If you can get under the car, you'll see the shaft where the 2 shifter cables converge. If you're under the car, head toward the back of the car, push the shaft either forward or backward till you can get play, this is neutral. Then rotate the shaft down toward you and pull out. This is first gear. If it doesn't work after that, bye bye tranny! Good luck!!!
