strut question

I recently bought two struts for the front monroe sensatrac. The boxes were different. I pulled the struts out of the box one was clamped to the ring so the strut doesnt push out, the other was screwed in so when you un screw it a little bit it pulls out. But the main difference is the top of the strut base, one is smooth and one has four bumps (front, bottom, and sides). Is there a difference? The model is 71780, the difference is one is made in USA and the other is made in Canada? Is there a difference is one better than the other?
I have a picutre but I cant seem to get it to work!

where did yo buy them from?

I would return them to get a matching pair. Monroe might be phasing out an old model to bring in a new model, I wouldnt mix the two. Especially both being on one end of the car.

Im not sure what to make of it.

But I still think you need two matching struts to do this correctly.
