I've been informed that the Sm5227 is the front spring seat and that I should replace it cause it is an IL car, salt. And that SM5113 is the front upper mount that comes with the bearing, and the Sm5055 is the rear mount.

Anyone know where to get the spring seat?

I'm sure they will. If the KYB's didn't fit the Ford mount, they wouldn't be specified to fit the Taurus.

Dunno what to tell you, except that Moog and Dorman are the same exact part, and basically the same company. There's another brand that's part of that triumvirate and their name escapes me at the moment.

KYBs are their own brand, as are AC Delco. So you might have some luck with either of those two. So far, we know that Moog and NAPA mounts don't seem to hold up too well.

The other brand that is same thing as Moog is probably TRW. I bought their outer tie rod ends and they were in exact same size packaging (diff color), even part number was same, and of course parts were exact same thing. Got those at Advance Auto Parts.

I cannot stress this enough.. ONLY BUY AND INSTALL THE OE FORD MOUNTS!

We're probably installed 30 or 40 sets of V8 struts, and the OE mounts are the only ones that never have come-backs for noise or failure.

Here are the Ford part numbers:

Front Mount: 5F1Z*18183*AA List Price $17.13/EA
Front Bearing: YF1Z*3B455*AA List Price $31.87/EA

Rear Mount: YF1Z*18192*AA List Price $28.83/EA

Yes, they will work with KYB, Monroe, Gabriel, Ford, etc. struts. A Taurus strut is a Taurus strut.

I went to my ford shop and picked up a pair of OE mounts for ~45/each front and ~35/each rear, and they come with everything I need. can't believe that it wsa so much cheaper than any other place. **** I am going to need to refuse the TireRack order. even with losing out on 21 in shipping I am still saving more than $50.

thank you to all for your help, it is very much appreciated to know that I can ask, no matter how trivial it may be for some, a quetion on something that confuses me.
