okay 93 atx ... while driving fine for oh say 20 minutes on the freeway i get into the city and from a stop i get no accel ... rpm's go up and no accel ... when i let off the accelerator and then hit it again (gently) the car jerks into first very hard (jumping the car forward) this happens at maybe 10 or 15 stop signs/lights and then stops and the problem has not repeated for two days .. .what should i be suspecting/looking towards?

obviously im thinking tranny but weirded out that the problem just stopped

just to clarify ... this only happened once ... a couple days ago ... it hasnt been an ongoing problem ... any advice would be awesome thanks so much

ford front wheel drive auto trans seem to overheat a bit so change the fluid in the trans and hope it fixes the problem.

the problem you described sounds as it might have overheated

Yep get it taken care of quick. My tranny blew up after just a small pressure spring came loose and destroyed the insides. Take it to AAMCO for a free diagnostic. I did... Cost me a pretty penny to FIX the problem after I drove it like that for 3 months. .. about almost as much as I bought the car for... Can't wait to buy the wife her new car so I can MTX this baby.

Go to a shop that can flush the whole transmission and filter and replace the fluid with synthetic fluid. It costs more, but will probably extend the life of your transmission greatly, as long as it is not already too far gone.
