Strange noise

I am buying a 91 mtx. There is a load metal on metal sound when ever i go over any kind of a bump. I was wondering if there was any kind of peice of rubber that wore off. any kind of imput would be helpfull

hard to know where to start on this.

best would be doing some stress maneuvers on suspension while car is at park. big areas for noise:

strut -- noise when pushing down on hood same side
swaybars/links -- also side to side
tension struts -- also front-to-back movement

motor mounts - when revving the engine
any time -- subframe mounts


good visual inspection will give you alot of information. get out the chilton's manual (regular taurus OK) and jack the car up, look around, stress the wheels and suspension pieces a little.

hopefully source of noise is one that can be fixed w/o lots of $$ expended.
