So my SHO has devoleped a rather strange noise. When Turning the steering wheel at slow or no speed there is a loud poping noise. I though originally that the subframe bushing were doing south based on information from this forum, so I did the recall Kit on the rear while installing GenIII Bushings all the way around. The rear bushing were shot, but there was no rust to deteriorate the mount to the point of failure. There was definatly some rust, but nothing like what some people have posed. GenIII bushings feel pretty good by the way, really cleaned up the engine crade rock when shifting.....

So here is a link to my video that I took of the car rather than trying to describe it. I have my thoughts on what my problem is, but before getting anyone side tracked I want to see if anyone else has an obvious thing to check -

Also lubed up the swaybar bushings and end links, ball joints are good and lubed.

More info

I knew there was more I forgot to mention in the first post that you all would catch :)

Checked the rack to subframe bolts, they are tight :) Also Motor mount bolts are tight.

Tension strut reciver cups are still attached to the frame and welded solid.

I will recheck the ball joints, but how do you go about checking the strut bushings other than taking the struts out and inspecting them? If that is the only way that is okay ;)

It doesn't make the noise in the air BTW, just loaded.

Mine was making a popping sound, not as bad as yours, but similar. Turns out the bearing on top of one of the front struts had disintegrated.

Funny you should mention that. I had the suspension apart yesterday and found that the drivers side strut bearing was toast. Only 12k miles on it, and less than 1.5 years. Oh well, replaced and things are good to go :) Thank you all for your input!!!

Mine was about a year old, < 5k miles. That was a Moog part, so the next time I tried using a Napa strut mount/bearing.. we'll see how that holds up. They looked exactly the same, so they likely come from the same supplier, though.

Just curious... Did you purchase the MOOG mounts that came with bearings, or mounts and bearings separate?

Im running the MOOG mounts that came with bearings. More than 35k on them now. No problems yet.

Yeah, I purchased originally two of the MOOG Kits that included the mounts and bearings in one box. The parts store had one replacement by Monroe on the shelf, which the parts looked exactly the same, and made the the same countries, so it looks like I put in what I took out. A few hundred miles later and no problems yet :)
