Have only noticed this a few time and wondering if any others have. When accelerating from from around 35 or so up to hwy speed I noticed a loud clicking / clacking noise It only lasts a short time 2 secs or less I would say and is very random. Any others have a similar experience and what was fix?
Thanks

Are you familiar with engine pinging, and if so, does the noise you are hearing seem consistent with pinging? What grade of fuel are you using (89 octane, 91 octane, 93 octane, etc.)? Are there any other driveability issues such as a lack of power? Have you followed the thread on chaffing wires for the knock sensors?

mstrbass,

Does what you are describing happen at relatively low engine speeds(1250-2500 rpm)? If so, you should go and get TSB 11-5-3. The dealer may give you some resistance because your car hasn't broken a spark plug yet, but this TSB involves a reflash of the PCM which will stop the noise.

Interesting. I had something while doing stop and go drills trying to make a transmission clunk. No clunk but there was during acceleration a noise which the service guy said sounded like a "card stuck in some bicycle spokes" clacking type noise. This by chance anything being described here?

Any update on this intermittent noise in the front end? Definitely not pinging.

clicking noise

Yep... 34K and I hear it from the rear. Sounds like metal. It's a fast, rapid clicking that last for 2-5 seconds. Can figure it out, nor could Ford but, last week after they checked, the engine blew up. It needed a long block and injectors. It has also had two sets of brake pad. Car is always having issues.
I have not been able to figure the clicking out yet
