Hey all,

SO my bone stock stereo (tape deck and CD player) will only go to 1/2 volume. U can turn it up all the way but it stops getting louder when its just past the halfway point. We switched out head units and the issue stayed. Would this be a bad amp maybe?

Maybe! Do you have the JBL system with sub-woofer? If so, one of the two amps (bass amp and mid-range and treble amp) in that system could be bad IF the mid-range and treble increases and the bass remains muted when you turn it past 'halfway,' or the opposite - OK bass and weak mid- and high-range notes. Other than that, I don't know; both of the SHOs in our family (1992s) have had the stock stereos replaced with aftermarket systems.

Check all fuses! Check the connections in the trunk that go to the amps if you have the JBL system. The mid/treble amp is on the right, the bass amp on the left, when you are facing forward. The bass amp has a two wire feed that goes to the sub-woofer.

We just removed the stock JBL system from one of our SHOs and went aftermarket, so I'm a little bit familiar with the wiring, etc.
