What is the stock Shortblock limits? I'm looking to max out the stock Shortblock.
Thank you. You understood what I was talking about and I truly appreciate it. Even attempting 1000 hp on a stock Shortblock(when I say stock shortblock I mean stock internals with a stock block) is idiotic. I didn't know what the stock drivetrain and shortblock limitations were. Now I do. Thanks again.Isn't the limit actually the transmission before the engine? Which is 450-500 whp.
@bpd1151 would know from asking a Ford engineer a long while back. I want to say a stock engine hit 720 crank horsepower?
Thanks again for the info. I want to break into the 11's on stock internals with the billet wheels. After that, I would like to take her to the drivetrain limitations. I have some goals. First things first though!The horsepower mark provided to me by one of the engineers who worked on the GEN4 platform when the SHO was reintroduced was relative to the transmission failures.
I was told in order to not experience drivetrain failures, I need(ed) to stay away from 720.
That # being crank horsepower.
I can't recall if a test, company wise, or individually, was ever performed to test the stock engines utmost limits.
Suffice to say, there have been plenty of failures documented all over the net (of stock engines) so I wouldn't imagine it's a high value number.
That's for sure.
@SBS......
I wouldn't sneeze at a benchmark of 720 (chp) out of the Jtekt setup.
That's actually fairly stout IMHO for a bone stock drivetrain.
It may not arise to the levels you, I, and others want to see out of it, post modification(s) that is.
But for what it is, it's a really good product right out of the gate.
