Looking for current recommendations for drop-in (or as close as possible) replacement for mufflers on stock cat-back for my '92 MTX. Want to use the stock band hanger etc. Want to keep it inexpensive, and installation easy. Avoiding shipping would be nice too. Filtered Summit's offerings down to 102 to look through, but hoping someone who has been here and done that can help.

Walker/dynomax for exhaust is shit. I've been through three exhausts in a fairly short period. I had my axle back on my subaru rot out and the front section was still good with 200k. The last one I went through saw a handful of snowy days and it rotted out in no time. I had a dedicated snow vehicle.

Next time i'll make my own with bends or go shosource.

I honestly don't know anything about stock replacement. I've had three 92s and only one had the original turn down tip mufflers. Search hard for a Borla system if you want turn downs. Supposedly they were good.

I just used some of the Summit Turbo mufflers. Cheap and sounds decent.

It all depends on how long you want them to last. I do have the shosource catback with borla mufflers and yes it's nice if you want to change the catback.

I have two other SHO cars that have dynomax catbacks, one that's 5 years old and other around 9 years and they're still in good shape... Both cars which are also parked outside and winter driven. As far as I'm concerned, if they've given me that many years...I'm quite happy. I know that the Dynomax/Walker mufflers do have the same hanger and close to stock replacement.

I would recommend contacting SHOSource and see what's available.

Magnaflow offers a muffler (and resonator) that is very close to factory sizing. If I decide to replace mine that is what I'll go with. I've installed all kind of exhaust over the years and Magnaflow products always seem to be of a higher quality than most.

According to the Dynomax catalog, the SHO mufflers also fit the Lincoln MKS.

Therefore, a recycling yard with a low mile MKS might net you some OEM quality, quiet, high flowing stainless steel mufflers.
