System Operation

The semi-active ride control will adjust shock absorber damping as required by the driving situation. The system operates as follows:

The semi-active ride control system is active with the ignition switch in the RUN position.

The electronically adjustable shock absorbers are normally set to the soft position.

The Semi-Active Ride Control (SARC) Module monitors suspension velocity.

Suspension velocity is determined by the two air suspension height sensors.

When suspension velocity reaches a predetermined threshold, the Semi-Active Ride Control (SARC) Module will shift the individual electronically adjustable shock absorbers to the "firm" position to restrict suspension motion.

The Semi-Active Ride Control (SARC) Module will also shift the electronically adjustable shock absorbers to the firm position based on suspension velocity to improve vehicle handling.

Now, is there any way to install a switch so that it can be adjusted to the different settings by the driver??

Yes. The simple one can be found over in V8SHO.com

Look for SARC switch. I think Paul might market a more complicated version that keeps steering assist on.

To keep the PS as is but stiffen the struts you need to switch off the ride height sensors, two on the front of most '97s-98s. Some '97s and '96s have the rear sensors too.

does anyone have a link to the setup that keeps the ps assist on. Although I have tried without the assist and the steering seems more responsive. I guess I will have to try both
