Hey all,

My wife and I bought a '97 sho back in September and have noticed that the gas peddle sticks when we start out regarless if at a stop light or pulling out of the driveway. I heard that by taking the throttle body assembly and cleaning it out with Gumouot, this will take care of it. The problem is that I have absolutely no idea where the throttle body is at needless to say how to take it out. any one interested in helping me out with this stcky situation?

First, you mean Gum Out?
Don't use it. Most Throttle Bodies are specially coated. Using Gumout will remove this coating. You can just use water.

your TB is at the end of the black hose (closer to engine) that goes to the air box. a TB is just a butterfly valve.

Could be that you need to lubricate your throttle cable.

It's *probably* safe to clean out your TB, but I wouldn't bother. Maybe just carefully clean off the gunk on the butterfly valve.

Ok, here's the thing. The coating is to prevent crud from sticking to it. If crud is sticking to it with the coating on there, what's the point of the coating?

But, if you're going to clean it, clean it with something that WORKS, not Gumout. Gumout is like water. I recommend Berryman's B-12 Chemtool highly. Do not get it on paint (eats paint), your eyes, or an open cut as it will burn.

I did a demo for my wife who went & got some for me - the salesman told her Gumout, but she did get me the Berryman's. I showed her the difference on a secondary butterfly - did one in Gumout (used the entire can, still had to wipe / scrub it), a couple of quick sprays with Berryman's on the other (no scrubbing or wiping). Her eyes lit up & went "ooooooh!" when she understood the difference. Now she has no problem fending off unknowing sales people.
