I just got a 1999 Red SHO and we bought it knowing that we would have to fix some stuff on it. One thing i have noticed is when i am turning the steering wheel left and right it makes a noise and its not coming from the steering wheel it's self its something to do with maybe the strut or somewhere around there..It is not a whining sound so i know its not the power steering. It's sort of like a high pitched ~creaking~ noise. If it helps any i was pushing down on my car and it made the same noise..If anyone has any idea of what it might be thats making the sound please tell.!

Thanks

I will add to the description:

The sound is like a "rubbing" noise. It only occurs when the car is steered to the right, not to the left.

I read another post on the forum about this and it said it was resolved by replacing the wheel hub. Although, it does not sound like bad bearings from within the wheel hub.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Here's an idea that works. I had the same problem on my car. I used Dawn soap and water. I put the mixture in a spray bottle and hit all the ball-and-socket joints on the front end and moved the wheel left and right and kept doing it. The squeaking stopped and I needed no major replacements. I did replace the tie rods, ball joints, wheel hubs, and front end links a year ago when I got massive play in the wheels and Loud wheel noise when the car was rolling on the road. Unfortunately the tire noise is back and I suspect faulty mechanicsmanship until I can jack the car up and mess with the front end a little. It doesn't help when you live at an apartment complex. Hope this helps.

Godspeed and may the SHO gods be with you,

Alaric

See if you can go to your local parts store and get a needle grease fitting for a grease gun and shoot some grease into the outer tie rods boots, as they don't have grease zircs in them. if money isn't an issue replace the outer tie rods and align it and you'll be good to go.
