You need to put something in the clockspring sensor to keep the internals from unwinding if it has to come off the column. They run $80-100 last I checked so be careful.

The sliding contacts are self contained on the '90-'91 steering wheel. I have also posted a step-by-step procedure for the removal of the steering wheel on my '91. Try searching for it. You can remove the fuse for the air bag system. I don't recall the fuse number, but you can ceratinly check on the owner's manual.

unhook the battery, the airbag is a positive system that when grounded activates the charge, taking the battery off, takes the charge outta the loop, the charge is no longer able to "fire". unbolt the bag from behind the wheel, you want to be able to turn the wheel to access the different bolts if not it will get in the way of the dash, and you can then unclip the harness from the bag/charge module. then put a wheel puller on and you will have your wheel off. Not much to it.

There are four what should be philips headed screws that hold the bag on. They could be star headed though so have both handy. Steering wheel pullers are cheap, I just purchased my own from Schucks for about $15. If money is tight most places will let you borrow one.
