After removing the power steering rack for the clutch service, the steering wheel rotated quite a bit. For reassembly is there anything extra I need to do to get it roughly centered?

The rack is probably mounted in the original location, but the subframe is most likely a little off. Unless you marked the subframe location before removing it form the car, you will need another alignment to ensure the camber and toe-in are properly set. Moving the subframe will affect both.

Thanks Scott. I haven't reached that part of the reassembly yet. I just wasn't sure if anything was amiss with the steering wheel turned. With my various delays, I'm trying to plan ahead a bit now.

Will the wheel return roughly to center when the rack is bolted back up and the axles put back in place?

So the alignment shop will also center the steering wheel, correct? Anything else I need to know before taking it to the shop? What 'specs' should I tell them to use? A stock feel will be fine with me.

It should.

The alignment shop's first task is to mechanically center the steering wheel and clamp it into place, then align the rest of the front end.

Make certain that the SFBs are in serviceable condition and that the SFB bolts are properly torqued. If the SFBs are not in good condition, the subframe can shift after your alignment and will cause the steering wheel centering and the camber to shift. Also, make sure they are aware that moving the subframe will affect these adjustment parameters.

Thanks. ASBs are going to be installed before the subframe is reinstalled.

Thanks for the continuing education.
