Steering System?

I just replaced the rack,pump and all hoses on my 95 ATX along with the tranny,sub-frame,bushing brake lines.When turning left or right the steering wheel is kicking back and forth,like it's getting assist and then no assist.Along with the problems with this new transmission from Certified Transmission I'm getting a little tweaked.

Did you reconnect all the wires back to the rack? When I got my sho there was a pair of wires that were not connected and I did the EXACT same thing. Hope this helps.

Did you you bleed all the air out of the power steering system? If not:

-Take the cap off of the reservoir
-Make sure fluid is full
-Start the car, and slowly turn the wheel left to right, lock to lock - don't hold it on the steering stops though (it makes me cringe when people do this)
-Add fluid as required. I'd say ten times to each side should do it, but if you still see a lot of bubbles in the fluid reservoir, keep the process going until there aren't any.


If the VAPS plug isn't connected, the VAPS simply won't work AFAIK, but still, check and make sure the plug for it is plugged in.

For me when it wasn't plugged in it wou;d kick around. I have two vids of it.
Now I was sort of forcing it to kick in the vid where I was parked but now that it is connected i cannot make it do that no matter how hard I try.
