This is a general question not really specific to SHOs but what can be the problem if my steering wheel shakes during braking? Braking during higher speeds feels like the wheels are wobbly and ready to fall off.

It's somewhat noticable in local driving but shakes a lot when braking on the highway. I though maybe I just need my tires balanced or wheels aligned but someone told me it might be a warped rotor.

common especially to the front brakes on the SHO.

My rotors are fairly new, and massiviely warped...so bad that braking feels a little unsafe at time.

The best thing to do about it is throw on the rotors off the 96+ SHO, as they are over an inch larger. Check www.shotimes.com for details.

Warped rotor(s) is the correct diagnosis. The SHO's rotors are sensitive to the lug nut torque which should be between 85 and 105 lb-ft. Too much, as usually provided by air wrenches, will almost always cause premature warping of the rotors.

The larger rotors warp just as easy. Check your Bias valve for adjustment, check your E brake for adjustment.

STOP SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES.

So warped rotor it is. I though about doing a '96 upgrade but I think the total cost will be too much (especially since I just spend almost $1K doing my 100K). I did replace the pads with PF CM pads very recently.

But if I have to spend the money to buy new rotors anyway, is there a "minor" upgrade option, say to a better brand of rotors for little more money?

How much does a brake upgrade normally cost?

I just replaced my entire front assembly for $38 dollars minus my time and misc things like brake fluid.

I have a hard time beleiving a brake upgrade is worth the cost, especially due to the knuckles having to be replaced.

the difference in price to upgrade to the 96 brakes is little if you have a 94 or 95. You simply require new caliper brackets. You already need rotors and pads anyways.
