steering pulses

I notice when I'm turning the steering wheel on a long curve and I have a little pressure on the steering wheel, I feel the wheel kind of pulling against my hand. It kind of pulses until I let off the pressure on the steering wheel.

Is this normal or do I have an issue with the power steering pump? The pump isn't making any noise and it seems to act normal ...aside from this.

My '93 does this as well. I'm not sure if this is a bug with the VAPS system that was introduced in '93, or a symptom of a problem. I do know that my car has always done this and the power steering still works as well as it did the day I bought the car (knock on wood). shrug

is this some sort of speed sensitive steering?
