Steering binding

After swaping engines in the SHO I have had a binding issue in the steering. Originally it was left or right but after looking at my tie rods and see they were rusted to crap I decided to replace them and doing so now the car only binds when turning left. It doesn't bind when I'm out of throttle or sitting not moving I'm lost as to what this is as I cannot look at it while driving down the road. I don't think that it's anything getting caught on the rack otherwise it would be doing it when sitting still. I'm thinking it may have something to do with my sub frame bushings?

Wouldn't it bind when you just have it sitting then? When at idle I can turn the wheel left or right without issue.

Nope. Had a 94 ATX do the same thing. Rack was junk.

Well that sux I guess when I do asfb I'll be changing that as well.

when you say binding what exactly does it do? i know i need tie rods but on occasion if i turn the wheel left or right while stopped you can here what it sounds to be like something shifting like a pop

It will get really stiff if I let off the throttle and coast it will work fine I need to see if while I rev the engine it still does it then when the ps fluid pressure goes up.

This is just a theory at this point, but easier/cheaper than changing the rack. If you take the pressure hose off of the rack there is a little top hat shaped check orifice that sits down in the fitting on the rack. Those do not come on the replacement rebuilt racks. You'll need a little dental pick or something like that to fish it out. Reconnect the hose, using a new teflon seal. See if it is any better with that removed.
