I recently took out my factory sub and amp a few days ago. It was sounding a little distorted when the cd player was turned up and I figured that I really didn't need it since I have 2 Infinity Kappas in the trunk. But every now and then I will hear some crackling sound or fuzzy sound like a tv or radio station that isn't coming in clear. Anyone have an idea why it is making this sound now from my trunk? I don't know if is the sound is coming from tha factory speakers in the rear deck or from the subs and it doesn't come from a certain rpm or anything, just does it at random and is always the same volume? Any thoughts?? I have already checked all the wires and eveything too, I don't know?? shrug

Craig,

Sounds slightly similar to my problem (as yet unsolved). Do you notice it more when going over bumps/rough road, or does it make this noise even when the car is standing still?

Steven--it just does it at total random; sometimes while driving I can hear it and sometimes I hear it when I am stopped and somedays it doesn't make any noise. I don't get it since it never did it before I removed the factory sub, but now it does?? shrug

I had the same problem after installing an aftermarket HU. Turns out some of the extra RCA outputs had the caps fall off and the were contacting a ground and making a nasty static noise. Just go over all you connections and make sure any unused connections are properly protected against accidental grounds.
