Yesterday I hit the start button and noticed it didn't start. Thought it was odd and maybe I just hit the button too quick. Pushed it again and it started, no problem.

Later in the day, I hit the start button and it didn't start. The starter engaged, but didn't seem long enough. I pushed the button again and it started, but displayed on the dash " Starting System Failure".

Anyone seen this before? Maybe starter is going bad? Thoughts?

1st that I've read of it.

Least in the manner which you've described.

Please let the community know what, if anything at all, was the resolution for this hit/miss phenomenon.

Could be an issue with the pushbutton switch, or a battery starting to fail. But really I think it might be the starter beginning to go. Not something that happens frequently, but hot weather will definitely put the hurt on it.

I would have someone pull DTCs. Starting system failure can mean the car tried to crank the engine, but no RPM was detected.

We did have one reported case at least where the battery case cracked, leaked acid onto the cables, ate them away over time, causing all kinds of electrical issues. But this seems restricted to the starting function.

Weak key fob battery! Guess it couldn't decide if the fob was there or not.
