hey all, i have a 1994 SHO and when i start it up it seems to garggle, rattle, and rev a bit then goes to normal running after a second. at first i had thought that seeing how it is a double over head cam engine it was supposed to do that...but i'm contemplating that now. i have done alot of work to this car inside out and is in top mechanical condition. please help my baby
i don't want to hurt her. :help:
thanks andrew

I don't know about gargling and rattling that you are having, but when first started that do idle high until the engine warms up and it'll settle in the normal idle RPM.

double overhead cam engines run nice and smooth! they dont do anything different on start up... not that i have noticed.

if anything you could refute high compression engines are harded to turn over... but i dont think that is the issue.

pull your codes to see if anything pops up (its sooooo easy to pull your codes...and it only cost you One piece of paper, a pen and a paper clip!), and let us know your maintenance records.

thanks guys i don't know...i could be just going crazy but it does rev and i know it should but it makes a garggle sound and rattles and i dont think its normal, only for a second though. and for maintenance...i just bought the car and have put 121 miles on it, bought it off ebay in febuary (paid 400 bucks!)
so as you can tell i havent really driven it, just fixing stuff here and there. so far i have done quite a bit, but i bought the car in really good shape it only had an engine leak and i've already fixed that along with other stupid stuff like cleaning the egr valve and intake. only bad thing i can think about mechanically is that the guy i bought it off of had taken it to Firestone its life...they suck ass (many of my friends have taken their cars there and have been screwed with) i will be pulling my codes shortly though. thanks again for the help!

check your fuel pressure....I don't know why you are asking for more advice when you haven't even taken the one you were given.

sorry solidstate, i'm pretty sure that the fuel injectors and rail are fine because i checked them when i had taken off my intake manifold. also it could be denile of possably having that problem and then having to replace so much and so much money to do so for parts...sigh... thanks alot though, realy.

You wouldn't really beable to diagnose a leaky injector by just pulling the intake.

When you replace your fuel pump, you should also replace your fuel return line check valve.

It is only a couple bucks. Pick it up and install it when you do your pump.
